Cosmetic Options for Removing a Mole
Turn to your Yardley dermatologist to handle moles and other skin growths quickly and easily.
While we would all love to have the perfect skin, for some of us common dermatological conditions can often keep us from having just that. If you are dealing with an unwanted mole, this is an easy issue to fix. While you may have read up about do-it-yourself remedies and tricks for removing your moles, why not turn to your Yardley dermatologist to quickly and safely remove it without any complications?
While not all moles are harmful, there are some that could be indicative of cancer. That’s why it’s important to always see your Yardley dermatologist if you notice any unusual or new growths. We perform the majority of mole removals in just one office visit. While treatment for benign moles aren’t necessary, if the growth bothers you or you find it unattractive, then you may want to have it removed. We can’t stress enough that you never want to shave or remove a mole yourself.
Cosmetic Mole Removal
Depending on the size and location of the mole, your Yardley dermatologist may only need to shave down the mole. This requires us to use a sterile blade to take off the mole. However, excision may also be necessary. This involves removing the whole mole and suturing up the skin. If the mole looks suspicious we may also take a biopsy to make sure the growth isn’t cancerous.
This procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is an outpatient procedure. Flat moles will only need to be shaved off while raised moles will most likely need an excision.
After Mole Removal
After the mole has been removed you will need to return for a post-operative visit to make sure everything is healing as it should. If we ran a biopsy on the growth we will also discuss your results with you. You will be able to go home right after your procedure and you will not need to restrict your daily activities.
If you are dealing with an unwanted mole and are interested in having it removed, then schedule an appointment today with your Yardley dermatologist at Rosenman & Leventhal, PC.
