Would you like to do something about your fine lines and wrinkles but aren't sure if Botox treatment is a good choice? Our Yardley, PA botoxdermatologists, Dr. Howard Rosenman and Dr. Linda Leventhal of Rosenman & Leventhal, discuss a few things that make Botox an excellent option.

Botox smooths fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles under the skin and preventing them from contracting when you frown or make other facial expressions. When the muscles no longer contract, your skin will also relax and become smoother.

Botox treatment can:

  • Minimize vertical lines between the eyes
  • Smooth forehead furrows (Botox was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat forehead lines.)
  • Reduce the appearance of crow's feet
  • Make nasiolabial fold lines less obvious
  • Decrease wrinkles around the mouth

In addition to minimizing lines and wrinkles, Botox has other important uses, such as:

  • Preventing or reducing migraines
  • Stopping excessive underarm perspiration
  • Easing the pain associated with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)

Your safety is our utmost concern during any cosmetic treatment in our Yardley office. The Botox we use is derived from the purified form of the botulinum toxin and is FDA approved.

Botox injections only take a few minutes. Because we use very thin needles, treatments aren't usually painful. In fact, you may only feel a slight stinging sensation when the needle enters your skin. After your treatment, you can immediately return to your normal activities.

It's not always easy to tell if you'll like the effects of a particular cosmetic treatment in advance. Unlike other cosmetic treatments that may change your face for many months or years, the effects of Botox generally only last three to four months. The majority of people who receive Botox injections are happy with the results and schedule regular appointments to maintain their wrinkle-free appearance. However, if you don't like your results, you won't have to wait long for them to wear off. Once they do, you can choose another option, if you prefer.

Enjoy a more youthful appearance with Botox injections. Call our Yardley, PA dermatologists, Dr. Howard Rosenman and Dr. Linda Leventhal of Rosenman & Leventhal, at (215) 321-3500 to schedule your appointment.

At Rosenman & Leventhal, PC, in Yardley, PA we offer a variety of skin treatments to achieve the best results for your oily skin. Patients oily skinlooking for information on maintaining their oily skin the best will be given a personalized treatment plan. We offer many treatments tailored to combat issues related to oily skin such as acne.

Oily Skin Treatments

Our Yardley dermatologist will do a thorough examination of your face. We will discuss the medications you use, the products you use and other helpful information. This information will help us to recommend a variety of treatments that will help improve the texture and look of your particular skin.

Micro peel treatments help to improve oily skin, age spots, acne, wrinkles and lines. They accelerate the regeneration of new skin cells and help stimulate collagen and elastin production leading to minimal wrinkles, sagging and other signs of aging. Surface skin cells are removed gently in order to allow fresh and smoother skin to appear. Impurities, blackheads and whiteheads are removed during this process before the treatment begins.

At Rosenman & Leventhal, PC, we offer a glycolic acid peel. This chemical peel uses glycolic acid, a popular ingredient for acne and wrinkles. It removes substances that hold onto older and rougher skin on the surface. When it removes this, a fresh, new layer of skin becomes visible. Results from glycolic acid peels generally result in less lines and wrinkles and less oily skin.

This peel is performed by placing a light layer of the peel to the face. It is left for a specific period of time. The peel is then removed. There are no real recovery time or pain relievers needed with this peel since it is so light and only touches the surface of the skin, not deep layers like other peels.

Have you given up on finding an effective treatment for your acne? Although drugstore medications may be helpful for mild cases, the acneproducts don't always have the same effect on stubborn or severe acne. Our Yardley, PA, dermatologists, Drs. Howard Rosenman and Linda Leventhal of Rosenman and Leventhal, discuss several dermatological treatments that may help clear your skin.

Prescription topical medications

Topical retinoid medications have helped many people overcome acne. Prescription medications, such as tretinoin, adapalene and tazarotene, clear out clogged pores and help skin cells turnover quickly, which reduces acne lesions. In some cases, prescription topical medications are used with antibiotics to kill the p. acnes bacteria on your skin.

Oral antibiotics

If your acne persists, you may benefit from taking an oral antibiotic for a few months. Oral antibiotics are usually used for moderate to severe acne that doesn't respond to topical medications alone. While you take the oral antibiotics, you'll still use your retinoid medication in most cases.

Isotretinoin, an oral medication, is used to treat severe cystic acne that doesn't improve with other treatment methods. Because this medication is particularly strong, you'll visit our Yardley office regularly while you take it to ensure that you don't develop serious side effects. If you're female, you'll need to use a reliable method of birth control and take pregnancy tests before and during isotretinoin use.

Light therapy

Light therapy helps decrease pimples and reduces redness. It works by targeting the p. acnes bacteria that forms in your oil glands.

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion

Both treatments remove the top layers of skin that contain acne lesions. The chemicals in the peel gradually cause skin to flake away. Results are more immediate with microdermabrasion. The treatment uses small crystals to gently sand away skin layers. In addition to removing lesions, the treatments also prevent clogging of pores and encourage rapid skin cell turnover.

Acne treatments can help you feel better about your appearance. Call our Yardley, PA, dermatologists, Drs. Rosenman and Leventhal of Rosenman and Leventhal, at (215) 321-3500 to make an appointment.

Aging affects every part of your body, but the changes are particularly noticeable on your face. Dr. Howard Rosenman and Dr. Linda wrinkleLeventhal, your Yardley, PA, dermatologists at Rosenman & Leventhal, PC, share a few wrinkle prevention tips and discuss several treatments that can help improve your appearance.

Preventing wrinkles with your Yardley doctors

Wrinkles form when collagen, a protein that keeps your skin supple and elastic, decreases. Both aging and exposure to UV rays can cause a decrease in collagen production. Using prescription tretinoin creams and gels can boost collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines, reverse sun damage and increase skin cell turnover. Products that contain vitamin C and glycolic acid can also help you increase collagen.

Wearing sunscreen every time you go outside is a simple way to keep your skin younger looking. Although it may be second nature to use the product in the summer, it's just as important to protect your skin from the sun in the winter.

Quitting smoking is one of the easiest ways to prevent wrinkles. Smoking decreases the amount of oxygen that reaches your skin and contributes to premature aging and wrinkles.

Anti-aging treatments

Your dermatologist offers several anti-aging treatments, including:

  • Dermal fillers: This injectable treatment adds volume to your face and improves collagen production. Fillers smooth wrinkles, make lines around the lips less noticeable, reduce crow's feet, reduce nasolabial fold creases, and plump up thin lips and hollow cheeks.
  • Botox injections: Botox injections block nerve impulses, which prevents you from contracting your facial muscles. When the muscles can't contract, the skin over them relaxes, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is used to reduce lines between the eyes, forehead furrows and crow's feet.
  • Microdermabrasion: During microdermabrasion treatment, your dermatologists uses a device that removes the top layer of your skin with a spray of fine crystals. The treatment reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Chemical peels: Chemical peels also remove the outer layers of the skin that contain wrinkles, although the results aren't immediate. Within days after you receive the peel, your skin will start to flake off, revealing smoother skin underneath.
  • Laser treatment: Exposure to laser light stimulates collagen production, firms your skin and improves the appearance of lines, wrinkles, age spots, spider veins, freckles and red spots.

Anti-aging skin care treatments help you look your best. Call Dr. Rosenman and Dr. Leventhal, your Yardley, PA, dermatologists at Rosenman & Leventhal, PC, at (215) 321-3500 to schedule your appointment.
